Concessions Roundup – Hot Lunch
Many of you like to spend an entire day out at the farm. You have your Adventure Passes pre-purchased and are waiting at the gate to start your day of family fun. Come lunch time, the kids are likely to need a energy supply boost. Fortunately, we have a variety of lunch items available to enjoy a lunch on the farm.
Before you dive into our sweet treats, try some of our hot lunch items to satisfy your hunger. Hot dogs and bratwurst are a quick and easy way to fill a tummy on a cool fall day. To spice it up a bit, add some chili and cheese to your plate. Nachos and cheese are also a favorite on the farm. Choose from a variety of side items to round out your meal and check out our many coolers to find a delicious drink item to wash it down.
We have a plethora of drinks, with a variety of Coke products, juice boxes, water, and energy drinks. On a cold day, place a warm drink in your hands to keep them warm. On a cool autumn morning, there is nothing like a cup of hot chocolate, coffee, hot apple cider, or a cappuccino to warm up some chilled bones.
When your tummy begins to growl, come to the Concessions Barn to see what else is cookin’.
Concessions Roundup – Sweet Staple Items
By now you’ve come to realize what the most popular items in our Concessions Barn are; fudge, caramel apples, and kettle korn. Each of these delicious treats is hand-prepared right here in the Barn.
Our fudge counter is often one of the most popular places to hang out as many are interested in trying out free samples of every flavor. The smooth texture and sweetness of the fudge makes it impossible to have just one bite. This year we will be returning many of the old favorite flavors and we will be trying out a few new ones. Here is a list of flavors that may appear at some point during the fall:
- Chocolate
- Chocolate Walnut
- Chocolate Mint Swirl
- Amaretto Chocolate Swirl
- Orange Cream
- Cookie Dough
- Root Beer
- Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel
- Peanut Butter
- Peanut Butter Chocolate
- Maple Nut
- Raspberry
- Strawberry Cheesecake
- Cheesecake
- Salted Nut Roll
- Chocolate Caramel Peanut (similar to a Snickers bar)
- Chocolate Praline
- Cookies and Cream
- Chocolate Coconut Almond (similar to an Almond Joy)
- Dark Chocolate Nut
- Chocolate Strawberry Swirl

Often times on a Saturday morning, as you approach the farm from the parking lot you notice the sweet aroma of freshly popped kettle korn. Once you try a handful of kettle korn you can’t get enough of it. Tom pops this fantastically sweet and salty treat right on the farm in the kettle korn shack at the entrance to the Concessions Barn. The light flavors are just enough to make your taste buds dance and beg for “just one more” bite.
To add some extra interest for our popcorn lovers, we have caramel and cheese varieties of popcorn. If you have a hard time deciding which is your favorite, you can go with the “Triple Treat”; a combination of all three flavors.
The treat that keeps people coming back for more has to be the delicious caramel apples. Many days, people will show up at the farm just to purchase a few caramel apples to take home to their friends. The fresh, local apples have just the right amount of sweet juiciness that combines with the gooey caramel to make your mouth water.
Our most popular caramel apple is the plain caramel dipped, but we do offer some delectable alternatives. Some prefer to have their caramel apple rolled in peanuts to add a little more crunch. Another option is to drizzle delicious chocolate all over the caramel. Finally, who could resist the turtle apple? Dunked in caramel, dipped into chocolate and finally rolled in a bed of crunchy pecans.
I need to stop writing and head down to the barn to satisfy this intense hunger for a sweet treat!
Opening Weekend Special
To kick off the season and show off our new Walk-To patch, we will be having an Opening Weekend Special on pumpkins (October 1st and 2nd). Our Pumpkin Patch has moved so this year you do not need to purchase an Adventure Pass to pick your own pumpkins. You can access the patch through our front yard Outdoor Sales area. Choose a pumpkin pre-picked on display near the front yard, or continue down the path with a wheelbarrow to pick your own from the patch.
All pumpkins are marked with the price on them, but as a special for this weekend only, some large pumpkins have been placed around the patch without a price. All unmarked pumpkins are only $4.
Like a scavenger hunt through the patch, your mission is to find the elusive unmarked pumpkins which will only cost you $4. As always, we have pumpkins and squash of many shapes, colors and sizes. Also available for your fall displays are many miniature pumpkins, gourds, ornamental corn, straw bales, and corn shocks.
Come wander around our patch and see if you can find your fall treasure. This offer is based on availability and runs for Opening Weekend only (October 1st and 2nd).
Concession Roundup – Healthy Snacks
Most of you know that our Concessions Barn is where you find delicious fudge, chocolate, and caramel apples. You can also get some drinks and hot foods if you are visiting the farm over lunch.
Many, however, expressed a desire for a few healthy snack and lunch options as well. Well, we have heard your concerns and in our greatly expanded concessions layout, we have plenty of room for more snack options.
For a quick snack, you can grab a package of peanuts, trail mix or fish crackers (a favorite with our future farm hands). In one of our new coolers, you can find a variety of fruit cups, yogurt, or cheese sticks. These items paired with a bottle of water or fruit juice should help from filling those little tummies up with too much delicious creamy fudge.
Tweite’s Around the Web
A couple of posts around the net featured the Pumpkin Patch and our partnership with the Girl Scouts. It seems that this year’s Corn Maze is quite the conversation piece.
The Post Bulletin shared this weekend’s event with the Girl Scouts.
This blog post shares how we are using smartphone technology in our Corn Maze to help you find your way.
The Girl Scouts are Coming!
Next Saturday, September 24th we are welcoming the Girl Scouts of the Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys to Tweite’s Pumpkin Patch. We are excited to partner with the Girl Scouts to provide a day of entertainment at the farm along with a specialized Corn Maze design to celebrate their 100th year!
If you are a Girl Scout or know of one who would like to join the group on the farm this weekend, contact your local leader for information or purchase your tickets on the Girl Scouts website.
With a forecast of sunshine and many young minds at play, it is sure to be a wonderful day at the farm!
Thrivent Event Postponed
Thanks to all who have signed up through Thrivent Financial for the private event at our farm tomorrow. Unfortunately, the weather doesn’t seem to be shaping up to provide enjoyable conditions for you. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the Thrivent event until the same time next Sunday (September 25th).
We hop this provides for a more enjoyable visit for your family. We can’t wait to see you next week!
And We’re Off!
This weekend we started off our fall season by opening the farm to the Mayo Fellows Association. Before opening in October to the public, we offer opportunities for businesses and organizations to enjoy a few hours of early fall on the farm all to themselves.
We couldn’t have planned a more beautiful day; blue skies, 80 degrees, and a bunch of smiling children. Thank you to the Mayo Fellows Association for helping us get the season started. We look forward to seeing you again.
If your business or organization is interested in group activities at Tweite’s Pumpkin Patch you can contact us to determine how we can best partner with you.
